Burnt Out in Seattle ("we", "us") is a community meetup group. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and what we do with it. We keep it simple because we're too tired for legalese.

What we collect

When you use our website or sign up for our newsletter or event waitlists, we may collect:

• Your email address (when you subscribe or join a waitlist)
• Your first name (when you join an event waitlist)
• Payment information (processed entirely by Stripe — we never see or store your card details)

How we use your data

We use your information to:

• Send you newsletter updates about meetups and community news
• Notify you about event details if you joined a waitlist
• Process event ticket payments through Stripe

We don't sell your data. We don't share it with advertisers. We don't do anything weird with it.

Third-party services

We use the following services to run things:

• Loops (loops.so) — email newsletter and waitlist management. Their privacy policy.
• Stripe (stripe.com) — payment processing for event tickets. Their privacy policy.
• Netlify (netlify.com) — website hosting. Their privacy policy.
• Google Analytics (analytics.google.com) — website analytics. Their privacy policy.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use this site — things like which pages get visited, where traffic comes from, and how long people stick around. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect this data anonymously. We don't use it to identify or track individual users.

Google Analytics only loads if you click "Sounds good" on our cookie banner. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and no data is sent to Google. Your choice is remembered for one year.

You can also opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by using a browser that blocks third-party cookies.

Unsubscribing

Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. Click it and you're out, no questions asked. You can also email us and we'll remove you manually.

Data retention

We keep your email for as long as you're subscribed. If you unsubscribe, your data is removed from our mailing list. Stripe retains payment records as required by law.

Your rights

You can ask us to delete your data at any time by emailing kamila@burntoutseattle.com. We'll take care of it.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update this page. We're a small community — any changes will be minor.
